Does Size Count?

I’m a small blogger.

After “tagging” along with all of the sessions at the ProBlogger Event the other weekend I am still happy with my choice to be a “not-for-profit” blogger. My main reasons are:

  • I do truly write for myself. Of course I adore it when people comment and interact (who doesn’t!?) but that is not my motivation. That’s just the icing on the cake.
  • I’m not interested in the management of a self hosted wordpress site.
  • I really couldn’t give a shit what Google’s current search algorithm is.

I don’t want to write for free for years in the hopes of a small amount of cash coming in. I’d rather do it for free for me. And hopefully those few readers along the way will enjoy what they read.

I love bloggers. I love the blogging community. You are all so inspirational. I think that if I tried to make this into a blog that earns income the business side of things would overwhelm and depress me – I’m just not interested in it!

Being a small blogger has advantages – with few readers I don’t have the pressure to post – which means no burn out. If I’m having a lazy, uninspired week, I don’t have to post!

Are you a big or small blogger? Do you like where you are in the scheme of things?

  2. Agree with all of these points. A small blogger, and new to the game. I mostly post for myself and the friends I know who follow and new friends I’ve started to collect in the blogging process. So far I’ve had good experiences.
