Three Letters for Bloggers

Something that came up a few times over the weekend at #pbevent was that many bloggers (especially new or small bloggers) aren’t really sure how talk to brands or companies. How to ask for more money. How to say thanks, but no thanks. How to cold-call (or cold-email).
Three Letters for Bloggers - Templates for working with Brands

Having done this a bit in my time (not for blogging specifically, but for jobs and in my jobs) I’ve written a couple of templates.

You can use these and customise them as you see fit. I hope this makes that the business side of blogging easier for you.

Somewhat obvious points to make – the parts in CAPS should be replaced with the details that are relevant to the situation! My notes are in italics.

Cold Call/Email

Hello BRAND (NAME of contact person if you have one),

I’m NAME, the owner of BLOG NAME – BLOG TAGLINE.

I have been an admirer of BRAND/COMPANY for some time now and would like to promote your brand by REVIEWING/WORKING WITH YOU/OTHER PROPOSAL on my blog.

Explain why they should work with you – what are the benefits for them?

I hope that you would consider working with me to promote ITEM/SERVICE to my readers. Links to my Blog & Social Media sites are below (mine are in my signature).

Have a wonderful day!

Kind regards,

YOUR NAME
