12 Days of Blogging Christmas: Day 1 – Photo Posts

Firstly, MERRY CHRISTMAS! I hope you have a great day and get to eat some yummy food and maybe even catch up with people who you haven’t seen in ages.

I saw a tweet the other day about how the Twelve Days of Christmas is annoying because shops do it before Christmas (obviously, for sales), when the actual Twelve Days of Christmas start on Christmas Day. Google tells me it’s a Catholic tradition – you’d never know I spent 9 of my 12 years in Catholic schools if I didn’t know that!

Of course, you don’t have to use any of these tips for Christmas specifically. You can use them for any time of year, any break you have planned or just any time when you need to pre plan your blogging! I’ll be covering 12 types of easy (or easy to plan) content over the next 12 days, so get ready to bookmark and learn.

Photo Posts

  • Photo posts keep it simple and ‘say a thousand words’.
  • You can have more than one photo in the post – tell a story or just focus on one photo with a theme, such as your wedding day.
  • Showcase parts of your history (personal or blog related) in photos. Encourage your readers to do the same in the comments.
  • Mix it up further by posting an infographic.
  • Smartphone vs DSLR: totally up to you and your editorial preferences – some people don’t like to use anything other than DSLR photos on their blogs and that’s fine. Others use Instagram to collate posts of their life recently or around an event.
  • Make sure the post has “pinnable” info (this post has easy and simple tips on blogging and Pinterest)
