An Update & A Favour

Time for a brief catch-up!

Centrelink Issues:

In the end after a few more calls, I received a call from the local office who said no interview was needed, just two bits of paper that I already knew I had to drop in when I got them.

All that effort and time for freaking nothing!

Job Services:

The outsourced government job seeking network are a bit of a pain too, though I haven’t written about them before. Basically they are terrible at doing things like answering phones and transferring calls without cutting you off.

They keep scheduling me appointments when I’ve told them I will be at work, wasting more bloody time of mine to reschedule. Oh, and they won’t let my husband call and reschedule for me, despite the fact he always has full access and permissions given by me. And to make it even more annoying, since I don’t get any Centrelink benefits right now in any way, shape or form, the entire thing is a waste of my time and effort.

My eBook:

I mentioned I was writing an eBook, NaNo style. Well that got put on hold when I got sick last week. I’m also wondering if my blog is coming full circle and heading back towards some of the early ideas I had for it; my first tagline was “a journey towards positive choices and weight loss” (or something like that).

My bitchy throat:

I’m sure it’s un-PC or something to call my throat a bitch, but it makes me feel better to hate the nasty infection I have, so I’m still going to keep calling it one.

I woke up last Thursday feeling like I had been punched in the jaw, and saw my GP Friday morning, started antibiotics & since then I’ve been struggling through interviews and work alternating shivering and sweating.

It has been the most glamorous week of my life.

I’m totally buggered but may finally be starting to feel better.

Maybe…

A Favour:

I’d like to use the time I have “off” this week to catch up on my eBook. So I’m putting a call out for anyone who would like to guest post. I’m pretty open to topics, I like to talk about most things! Unpaid guest posts, sorry. I don’t even make enough to cover my hosting from the blog at the moment. If I could pay, I would pay. Drop me an email or leave a comment!

How are things going for you?

The are driving me nuts! But at least Problogger is close 🙂

  2. I wish I could help out but I’m in the middle of writing website content.. for myself! So much harder than I thought. Get better soon and GO the ebook!

That’s ok! I think bloggers are some of the best positioned people to know how long it all takes 🙂

  3. Ugh centrelink is a pain in the arse to deal with. I’ve just lost $50 a fortnight because Dyllan has turned 5..apparently between Saturday and Sunday a few weeks ago he started costing less to feed and clothe. Heh.

I’ll have a think about the guest post, although at the moment I must admit I am struggling with keeping up on my own blog!

I guess at 5 he should be working lol

  4. Centrelink sucks big time. A friend has recently lost his job and wow, the job networks sound so pathetic. Apparently you can only apply for jobs through one job network that you sign with? Sounds stupid to me. EVen the good ol’ CES back in the day managed to do better than that.

The job networks have literally done nothing for me. I had an initial appointment that was supposed to be 30-45min or something and it was 5mins, fill in a form & email them my resume. Now they want to see me again but I’m constantly rescheduling as I juggle a little casual work and interviews (both of which also change). They better have some useful stuff to say or do when I get around to seeing them because I’m pretty sick of trying to fit them in.

  5. Sorry to hear of you ill’s and misfortunes. I’ve had nothing to do with centrelink for so long now but if they are anything like the tax department I feel your pain.

I have no idea what a guest post entails or how it works but I’m game to give it a crack if you get stuck 🙂

Haha I’m also dealing with the ATO and they’re a breeze in comparison 🙂

A guest post is just writing a post that I put up here, with a little bio on you and a link to your site.

  6. Urgh. Dealing with Centrelink makes me lose the will to live! Hope you feel better soon. I’d offer to guest post but I barely find time to write for my own blog. LOL.

Haha it’s a bit like that with them. I’m just keeping my fingers crossed something more secure comes up work-wise so I can dump Centrelink and not deal with them.

  7. You poor thing, I hope you feel better (and that your Centrelink woes come to an end) soon! I’m excited to hear more about your e-book, and I’d love to help you out with a guest post, if you’re still looking for people to help 🙂
