My 2014 ProBlogger Conference Issue

I often get my best ideas while I’m doing something completely unrelated, so yesterday at work I left a page in my notebook to brainstorm my goals for the ProBlogger Conference – only I drew a complete blank!

My 2014 ProBlogger Conference Issue

I have no idea who I want to meet or my goals right now. Goals really help to shape what you get out of something like a conference, so I’m feeling uninformed and lost. All I know is that I probably spent more time last year learning when I should have been talking to humans. Then I thought, “maybe meeting people is my goal”. But who?! I’d like to meet everyone I chat to online (even though I’m terrible at matching faces to names to blogs.) So I’m right back at the start.

I know which sessions I want to attend but beyond that I feel very stumped. It probably doesn’t help that I’ve barely blogged recently, having been totally wrecked with an infection & on strong antibiotics; it’s been enough just to stumble through daily life, let alone write.

What’s your main goal if you’re going to be at the ProBlogger Conference this year? Can I steal your goal?

Also, I’m over at Kiki & Tea today with more tips about how to choose sessions at conferences.

  1. Firstly, lucky you for going! I’ve never been – too many other expenses! If I went, my goal would be a bit of everything – mainly to learn, learn, learn and to meet some of the bloggers who I admire IN PERSON would be amazing. Enjoy yourself and look forward to hearing all about it! 🙂

Last year was my first time. I can’t really afford it this year, but I’ve had a bit of a crap year so I got into a “nothing will stop me” attitude about getting to do something for myself! I realised after last year I didn’t even blog about it, I think I was too overwhelmed haha.

  2. My goals are many. To meet people that I love online. To learn more business stuff to improve my blog. To enjoy the luxury of going and being away from my family. Feel free to steal them if you think they would be useful! xS

The break from home is one for me too, actually!

  3. I so badly wish I was going, so badly! I didn’t have the money when tickets were released and so I missed out. I am most definitely going next year though, I am already putting money aside. Can’t wait to hear all about it (and I hope you are starting to feel better xx).

At least you’ll be set and ready for next year then!

  4. Maybe wait til you get there and hear the keynote. It was very inspiring last year. Have fun and learn heaps (those would be my goals if I were going)

That’s true, the keynote gets you into that conferencing spirit!

  5. LOL I’m not going this year but plan to next year. My goal will be not to fall over in front of everyone and make a fool of myself and to try not to get overawed if I get to meet any of my blog-crushes!

Not falling over is a good one. But it would make you memorable, so maybe fall over, just not enough to hurt yourself?

  6. Did you read my post today? Tips and stuff. Don’t worry about goals, just go along with an open mind!! x

Yes, I finally got around to reading it! I felt like last year I would have learned more if I’d had goals, which is why I want them this year. But I guess having my sessions picked is kind of goals enough.

  7. I just want to soak it all up!!!!

I liked sitting at the back of the room last year during keynotes going OMG LOOK AT ALL THESE PEOPLE WHO LIKE WHAT I LIKE!

  8. Would have loved to have gone this year. I agree with Emily, go with an open mind and stay away from the dessert table! Have fun!

      Hopefully next year then 🙂

  9. Maybe it is a good thing to go in there as a blank canvas??
    Enjoy it!!

      Maybe, yep!

  10. Ahh you poor thing. You sound like you’re still recovering. My goals are to learn, network, make friends, have fun, step out of my comfort zone and to not have a hangover the day after the cocktail party 🙂

    1. lol Renee, I’m with you on that one!! Doesn’t take much to make me tipsy these days.

  11. no goals here, just open mind and hope to have some fun and not be in the corner on my lonesome!! x

Stand awkwardly with possible friends, that’s what most people do on the first morning. Then it passes!

  12. Your goal is to meet me, der. And I can send you feedback about this blog if you want (the same type of feedback I’d send clients) if you want to go into the conference with a different outlook.

Yay! A goal! Feedback is always welcome, though I’m pretty sure I know I’m directionless, don’t proofread and just blurt things out 🙂
