Ah-Ha vs Duh

Ah Ha vs Duh

Firstly, some background: I love having ideas. I’m great at ideas. I have too many ideas. I think it’s called Shiny Object Syndrome.

Ah Ha vs Duh

I have no time to apply the ideas I have. I don’t really even get to spend time thinking about or actioning them.

Sometimes though, ideas just click. And I am left with this feeling of “woah”.

Then my feeling switches to “duh”. If it was so obvious that I thought of it relatively subconsciously, surely I should have thought of it earlier, right?

This is one of the biggest things I struggle with.

I haven’t worked out my solution to this yet.

Am I being too hard on myself but changing the Ah-Ha to a Duh?

Or is it truly a Duh caused by the fact that my life is a bit messy right now and it’s easy to overlook basic solutions?

Either option feels plausible to me right now.

Do you struggle with this too?

  1. I think all my thoughts are duh 🙂 Rachel x

    1. I’m sure they aren’t! (And sorry for the delay, Askimet put this into spam & I only just found the comment!)

  2. Yes! Totally get this! One day I’ll have a smashing idea that’s not so obvious… one day.

I’m so glad this isn’t just me!

  3. Mate, don’t be too hard on yourself. You’re what Darryl Kerrigan would call An Ideas Woman. Brain always working overtime. Just pick the best ones to pursue, because you’ll get tired chasing all of them 🙂

      Too much working maybe!

  4. Mrs Romance is always coming up with ideas. I’ve got no clue where they all come from. She’s like a fountain. And her ideas are all great – like chocolate. She’s like a chocolate fountain. Chocolate fountain?! Ah-ha! MY idea! Why hasn’t anyone else thought of… oh, they have? Duh!

Haha now that would be a good thing to have at the cocktail party at ProBlogger!

  5. Oh I’m glad it’s not just me!!
My husband is an ideas man. Sometimes it scares me a little bit. 🙂

I think I need to work for some kind of brainstorming company or something.

  6. I am totally an aha duh gal. I get you, but dont be too hard on yourself hun – I think there might be quite a few of us xx

I guess when something clicks, that’s when it has clicked well and you’ll remember it!

  7. […] obligation, before I even took it anywhere. Now, this is probably a bit to do with my amazing shiny object syndrome, but it also stems from producing things that have no value to you […]

  8. […] then, I had a thought (that probably should have occurred to me earlier) that not everyone follows me on every social media channel. It’s OK to repurpose content […]

  9. I have too many crazy ideas and not enough time to pull them all off. I’m getting better at working out which ones to run with and giving the rest away.

That’s the part I struggle with. But we can only get better at that with practice. Oh to have an assistant who likes detail and to do the legwork for you!

  10. Totally a oh duh person over here. I feel like when I have a breakthrough it’s something I probably should have known all along!

      It feels so obvious!

  11. If I had time to implement all of my ideas, I reckon I’d be pretty happy. But, the reality is, I don’t. I think you’re definitely being too hard on yourself though. You’re so busy, you can’t expect things to just naturally make sense to you straight away, all of the time. It definitely doesn’t happen to me that way but when it does, I’m glad it happens, at least!

That’s true, even when I feel a bit duh, I am glad it finally makes sense to me.

  12. I think you’re a little hard on yourself 😉 But when it’s an obvious and perfect solution, especially after a long time struggling with a problem, then it would be natural to wonder why it didn’t occur to you sooner.

I think some answers only stick with us when we hear it the right way, so I’m thinking that’s why the duh!

  13. Yep, I totally hear you on this. My Aha! moments are often so blatantly obvious, but it sometimes takes me a while to cotton on. Maybe we’re just too busy thinking about other things?!!

Maybe things need to float around subconsciously before we can really process them.

      So much duh some weeks!

  14. Yes … too many ideas, too little time. Describes me to a T!

If only we all had assistants.

  15. Totally. Duh why didn’t I think of that or Ah Ha… Then do nothing about it.

Taking action is the hardest part.

  16. I think I just chicken out of ideas.

I think we all do sometimes. But also I think we chicken out when it’s not the right idea for us.

  17. I am useless with coming up with the ideas but if someone has one for me I like to think I am pretty good at actioning them! So therefore there’s not too may aha moments for me!
(or my aha moments turn into more DOH! (Homer Simpson) style when I realise someone has already had the same idea and I’m too late!!)
