Conference Wind Down

Conference Wind Down

As I write this, it’s Sunday afternoon. When you read this, I’ll be on my way to work. Firmly back in reality. Ah, reality. It exists but sometimes I’m not too fond of it.

Conference Wind Down

I spend Thursday through to Sunday at Royal Pines Resort on the Gold Coast at the ProBlogger conference. I’m sure I’ll blog about that more over on Bloggers and Bacon but today it’s all about entering reality again.

So far two main things have stood out to me as I get used to being at home again.

Keys

My front door is really annoying. One door opens one way and the other opens the other. The problem with this is that to open the second door, you’re a bit squishy with the keys and you have to be holding them in the right way to get in. I stuffed this up when I got home. For some reason my coordination wasn’t allowing me to remember how to use keys to open doors. I blame the hotel for this. I like opening doors with cards. (It reminds me of video games.)

Food

This one might be the hardest. For some reason, at home I can’t just walk out of a room to find food ready for me. What’s with that? The rumour is that I have to cook it and choose it and do everything myself.

Reality. It’s a harsh mistress.

How do you get back into reality after a change?

  1. I hate it and usually come down hard with a bump. I always think of the Simpsons where Homer is in a lifeboat with the boyscouts and uses up all the batteries on a game or something and is like “Aww, now I have to face stupid reality again!”
Never is it more apparent that being independently wealthy would be very very nice.

I’ve come down pretty hard today!! Stupid reality indeed has been my day.

  2. Why must reality always rain on the parade after an awesome time away or holidays or some time out. Speaking of reality, I better put the washing on so I have a uniform for tonight.

I was going to be all efficient and sort out clean from dirty when I got home, but then I worked out it’s just easier to empty the suitcase directly into the washing machine.

  3. I’m still trying to find my normal again. Of course the kids do help with the transition with their endless demands and their need to get back into routine quick-smart! Looking forward to your future wrap up post!

  4. I do hate how reality decides to butt in on the fantasy. When we went away a few weekends ago, it really sucked coming back to the routine and not waking up to the sound of the waves.
