I first made this sauce a few years ago when some friends & I had a dumpling party. I realised I hadn’t ever gotten around to blogging it in any kind of detail*.
*Detail being kind of a vague term for someone like me who makes up cooking as they go along.
Spicy Asian Style Dipping Sauce
You only need three ingredients for this:
- Hot Sauce
- Soy Sauce
- Sesame Oil
These are the ones that I had on hand, but obviously you can make it with whichever brands you prefer.
Grab a bowl and something to mix it with. I start with the hot sauce first, drip in some sesame oil, then top it up with some soy sauce. I literally do not measure these, so I can’t help you with that.
I’m a great food blogger. *Insert laughing/crying emoticon here*
As you can see in the photo below, the mix of ingredients don’t mix perfectly, which I think is mostly the sesame oil. Just keep stirring it and it gets better.
If I had to estimate quantities, I would guess 2-3 tablespoons of hot sauce, a teaspoon of sesame oil and 1-2 tablespoons of soy sauce. It literally is a guess though, because I just pour straight into the bowl and mix.
The best part about this is that you don’t need much as a little goes very far. But, if you need to make more, just add more like I did last time:
And, if you’re not a spicy fan, you can dial down the amount of hot sauce. Probably even replace some of it with tomato or BBQ sauce, but I haven’t tried that.
Do you have any easy to make sauces?
