$206 Grocery Shop

$206 grocery shop for the fortnight

Go me, because not only did I manage to spend an entire day at work yesterday, but I also managed to go out after work and buy food! It’s a good sign that the virus that has been kicking my butt for a week is finally starting to leave my system. Even better, this fortnight I didn’t lose my receipts. Which makes it a whole lot easier to blog about it.

$148.28 at Coles

As you may have noticed, we do the majority of our shopping at Coles these days. I keep finding that things I want aren’t in stock, or have gone up significantly, at Woolies. As I said in my questions about CostCo post this week, I have hesitations (mainly for health reasons) about buying unfamiliar brands when it comes to prepackaged food. Which is also why I rarely shop at the two Aldi’s near my house.

This shop was a bit more expensive than most, because we ran out of the stuff that generally lasts a long time, such as laundry detergent, washing up liquid, sun cream, dog shampoo and Paxo.

Also, check out the totally bargain prices on pads & tampons. PSA: Coles have a lot of brands half price this week. Stock up on sanitary items – it’s not often they’re this cheap!

$58.29 at Woolies

Again, this was a bit expensive due to needing to replace things that last a long time such as my husband’s coffee and quick eze. The cheese, chips, triple cream brie and V are all TOTAL NECESSITIES, you hear me!? *winks*

We haven’t made it to the fruit & veggie store yet – but I have a five day weekend coming up so I have all the free time (well, for five days) to get that done!

Do you seem to run out of the big things all at once? What do you stock up on when it’s on sale?

I stock up when it’s on sale!

  2. I hate running out of the long term expensive things all at once. I need to do a proper shop now that we are approaching the start of school but I just need the motivation to organise my list and go out there and do it! Still a little bit in holiday mode….

I’ve started keeping one notepad just for grocery shopping, so I write things down throughout the fortnight as I run out. Makes it simpler.

  3. I had to buy pads for Paul’s grand daughter a few months ago and was shocked at how expensive they had gotten. I am so glad I don’t have to buy them on a regular basis anymore. I stock up on school snacks when they are on sale, as well as cordial. Although at one stage I kept forgetting to check if we needed muesli bars and we ended up with 3 boxes of them lol!

Granted I do buy brands so that’s why they’re so expensive but it’s not really an area where I want to skimp! The last time the muesli bars I love went on sale I filled half a shelf in the pantry with them 🙂

  4. I always snap up a mark down if it’s something I will need and use! Some weeks I don’t even take a list because we need everything! I mustn’t have done a great shop last week (I usually do it f/nly), because we are running out of lots of stuff. I hate that, have to up my game 🙂
