I Freak Out When...

After a bit of a break, I’m jumping back in with the weekly writing prompts for I Must Confess.

I Freak Out When…

I Freak Out When...

My trigger for most things is tiredness. It stops me from processing things well, and logically. I assume that’s the reason sleep deprivation is a torture device.

I can’t remember right now the last time I freaked out, actually. Probably because I was too tired to remember it! I expect it was over something completely minor, like food or washing up or not having clothes clean for work.

Over the past few years I’ve gotten better at recognising that I’m tired, so I can usually pull myself out of a freak out/funk/whatever pretty fast.

What do you freak out over? And more importantly, do you know your trigger so you can pull yourself out of it?

  1. I definitely freak out more when tired. My husband is fond of saying ‘you can cope with anything after a good night’s sleep’ and it’s so true.

I know people groan at cliches, but they’re usually cliched for a good reason.

  2. Oh I love that you focused on finding a trigger for freak outs… hmmm I’ll have a think about that! Food for thought! X

Yep – triggers are so important! It took me forever to work out mine, and then one day it just clicked.

  3. Chronic fatigue is horrible. That is one of the main side effects from the treatment I had. It definitely drives me crazy. I freak out about a lot of things. I have a phobia of being dizzy. I freak out if I have too many things on. I’m basically just a freak lol

I’ve wondered if I have CFS. I was never this tired or blah until I had glandular fever 8 years ago. Freaks unite 🙂

  4. YES! Thank you! Somebody else who knows they don’t cope as well if they are tired.

I am *so* protective of my sleep. I let myself slip a few weeks ago when I had my staycation and I am *still* paying for breaking my patterns 🙁 I feel like I’m slowly reclaiming them in the past week, but now it’s like I have a deficit my body wants to make up for.

  5. Oh that rings true for me too! We all need to get some sleep!

It’s probably the easiest thing (unless you have insomnia or something) that people can do for their health.

  6. I agree, feeling tired definitely makes things worse when it comes to reacting to things! I vividly remember not coping at all when I woke up and went to have a shower only to find a mouse in the bathtub many years ago. Although, to be fair, it would not have mattered how much sleep I’d have – I still would have freaked out!!!!

Yeah I think I would have been at least in shock, if not freaked out, at that.

  7. I hate not having control and like you I think I freak out more when I’m tired. Which lately is most of the time.

That’s the worst part sometimes – you know good sleep might help but when you’re not getting it, you’re not getting it.
