Appreciation

Appreciation

As a somewhat sarcastic person, I find things like appreciation or gratitude hard to write about. It doesn’t mean I  don’t feel them, but I don’t feel entrely comfortable expressing them the way others bloggers may do.

Doctors

I very much appreciate that my doctor took the time to really talk to me about my iron levels. Most others in the past two years of low-near low results have just said “take any old tablet”. As you may know, I was given detailed and continuing advice and support on this matter. I’ll be getting some blood drawn over the holidays and I’ve already booked back in to see him early in 2017 for the results.

Support

The support of my husband, my friends, my old boss and many others made it possible for me to complete a Graduate Certificate this year while working full time.

Snuggles

There’s nothing like coming home to your dog needing to find you to say hello, then throw a kong at your face so you know that hug time is over, it’s play time now.

Patience

I am not a patient person by nature (though oddly enough, I’m a very patient driver). This year I’ve had to learn patience and while I’m still very far from being able to be described as patient I think what I’ve had to learn will help me in the future.

What have you appreciated in 2016?

  1. I’m much the same- find it a tad difficult to express this, but man, there’s been so much to appreciate. Right now I’m appreciating the doggy snores from under my desk on this fabulous do faff all boxing day.

    1. Naw doggy snores are the best!

  2. Well, I appreciate you for not only finding the time to blog about appreciation but taking yourself out of your old comfort zone to do so!! Go V. I think it is important to express appreciation/gratitude/thanks because it actually comes back to you too. The world needs this more now for sure. Thanks for joining in today for the last LTW in 2016. Next week it’s link up a fave post from 2016 to get Life This Week kicked off for 2017. Cheers, Denyse #lifethiswweek

    1. It’s good to do every now and again – even if I don’t like expressing it as such 🙂

  3. I’m a sucker for a bit of gratitude and appreciation. I appreciate waking up every day and having another crack at this crazy thing called life. I appreciate living in Sydney – I really am living the dream and I’m grateful for my husband and my friends and family for always having my back. With all the bad things going on in the world, most of all I appreciate having a roof over my head, food on the table and a safe place to live. Here’s wishing you lots to be grateful for in 2017!

Sydney is a great place. I’m not sure I’d ever want to live there but I love staying for a few days and just wandering around the city.

  4. Ah, we all need to take a moment to think about what we can be thankful for from time to time. I too have been working on the patience thing this year (not sure I have been very successful though), and I have been VERY appreciative of family support this year with the birth of our third child a few weeks ago. I enjoy snuggles of the baby kind now. 🙂 Well done for writing about something out of your comfort zone. I should try that. Thanks for being inspiring! and Merry Christmas.

The patience is hard! I don’t know how parents do it – I don’t think I could cope with something so totally dependent on me.

  5. It’s great that you’ve found a doctor who can help you with your health issues! I’m very thankful that we live in Australia with all that we have. Hope 2017 is a better health year!

A good doctor is worth so much! He’s always running late but I’ll put up with that to get someone who will explain anything I want and really help me. That’s probably why he always runs late – he cares that you understand.

  6. Good doctors can be hard to find, so I’m glad you’ve got one. And I love your appreciation for your dog – happy pets are the best.
Can I just say everything? I’m appreciative of everything. Done. Except Trump. And the way we “the Australian Government” treat refugees.

Those two things are pretty big exceptions that I fully agree with!
