Just Start Blogging

Just Start Blogging

Blogging is a huge industry these days, even here in little old Australia. There can be a lot of pressure (externally and internally) to start the perfect blog, with the perfect niche, perfect logo and perfect theme. This pressure often gets in the way of doing what you really need to do, which is to:

Just. Start. Blogging.

Just Start Blogging

Two things should be considered here:

Perfect doesn’t exist in blogging, much like in real life!

Blogging is a rapidly evolving industry and what is perfect this year won’t be perfect next year. I know the Type A’s and perfectionists out there will struggle with this, but it’s really something you’ll need to come to terms with if you’re not going to drive yourself crazy.

Barely anyone starts out with a perfect design and idea.

I started my personal blog on wordpress.com just because I wanted to learn how to use WordPress. I didn’t really intend to keep blogging on it and now it was been about five years, I’ve made many wonderful friends, had a ton of great experience and none of that was planned.

What is truly keeping your from just starting your blog? Or publishing a new post?

  1. I could not agree more!

Too often, the advice you see or hear is “make sure you’re self-hosted”, or “start out with a great theme/design”. And sure, these things might be important, but they’re never going to be as important (in my opinion, anyway!) as your actual content. Just STARTING or actually writing is what’s key 🙂

    1. And honestly, unless you have some giant marketing budget, it’s unlikely anyone will see a new website for a while so it doesn’t matter (too much) what all the small details look like.

  2. I 100% agree, the best way to learn is by doing.
