Randoms 16

Up, down, shake it all around. That feels like recent weeks for me.

It turns out that getting home and experiencing extreme muscular fatigue has a reason! Sarcastic yay for another deficiency being discovered. Vitamin D. I guess those lunchtime walks I used to take until I was injured in February were pretty valuable for this desk-jobber. Creepily, my GP predicted that was the deficiency. They did a wide ranging blood test for most big possible causes of fatigue and muscular pain and that was the only thing out of normal range, so that is good overall.

Good news is that I won’t really be exacerbating anything if I try things like the gym again. I’m thinking 20mins 3 times a week is a good goal – more about getting back into going than how much I do there. I’m so very over how much fitness and stamina and general get up and go I’ve lost this year.

I’m 1500 words from my goal on my latest book. Plan is to release this month. I’d like to release the rest in the series this year. But then I’d have to write them and they are very low on word count so I’m not sure how realistic my wishes are. But in the meantime you can buy my other books here.

My dog yawned while we were playing on the weekend and she couldn’t work out how that made the ball drop away.

I also somehow pulled a neck muscle a little while out with my cameras on Sunday afternoon. And my tripod is evil. I don’t really like tripods because I’ve always found them annoyingly fiddly but I’ve been practicing some video stuff and video really needs tripods!

Something bothered me on Friday and I (safely, hands free etc) recorded myself talking about it on my drive home. Sunday evening I attached an intro and outro to it and turned it into a podcast. It’s available to listen to on my website or via Spotify. I have submitted it to iTunes but I only did that last night so it’s just not ready yet. It is now on iTunes!! CW: discrimination for the first episode.

I’ve been wanting to podcast for a while but as usual with me, I need some kind of tipping point (for lack of a better word). It’s how I know I work, I’ll plan, think about …for ages. Then one day I wake up and do. I wish I knew what flicks that switch in my brain to get me started on things but I don’t know! I just know it exists and it does happen for me.

Tell me something random about your last week or so!

It’s up on iTunes now; I’ve added the link to the post.

  3. Glad to hear it’s a Vitamin D deficiency and nothing worse. Do you need supplements or just make sure you see the sun more? Woohoo on podcasting! Go you! And great work with the writing. I need to get my shit together at some point and just write

Doctor said get some more sun but I decided to take some supplements to hopefully help kick the muscle fatigue side of things so I can go back to the gym.

  4. Well done on getting the podcast out there. I’m totally the same – have so much I want to do but there’s not rhyme or reason as to why I’ll sometimes follow through and other times I won’t! Good luck with the writing – I’m happy to be your accountability buddy if that will help (I need a kick up the butt myself!)

It would be so good to know why I don’t do things and what the trigger is to just suddenly do it all. And when I do just do it all, it’s not usually hard or doesn’t take long. I’m not sure if it’s a hyperfocus thing or if it just sounds hard until I do it!

  5. Lots of random-ness here! Well done on nearly finishing another book and a podcast, very impressive!! It seems Vitamin D deficiency is increasing and I’m also taking a supplement after tests. #lifethisweek

It’s like I don’t have a chronic illness in the usual sense, but I’m really skilled at short term “things”. I’d like to not have that skill!
