It Hurts

It hurts to ignore things.

It hurts to share things.

Activism feels too much like yelling at people to “just get it”.

People get it when they get it and you cannot control that.

Yelling doesn’t fix it.

Demanding people prove they are an activist by x or y behaviour only doesn’t help.

Muting people or topics is not sticking your head in the sand.

There’s no such thing as a social media echo chamber.

It’s incredibly unlikely that social media is your only interaction in life.

Curate a space that supports you.

Curate a feed that doesn’t make you sad.

But the standard you walk past is the standard you accept.

When you can’t walk past it but can’t cope with it;

What do you do?

I don’t want to be silently complicit.

And I feel like I am if I walk past it.
