What I Did On My Summer Poorcaytion

I have grand plans for publishing in 2020. So far 2020 has had other plans for me, including injury, injury, injury, reinjury, infection, infection, and side effect from infection drugs. All in all it’s safe to say I keep pushing plans back, and then back, and then back. Gotta let yourself heal if you can. But it is frustrating that I hadn’t hit any of my self-imposed publishing deadlines.

What I Did On My Summer Poorcaytion

And then I had one of those bursts of energy. Those glorious, unpredictable and probably unsustainable bursts of energy that would probably make me some kind of super villain if I could harness them full time. Ah, the dreams of what could have been, am I right?

In this instance, I super-villain’d for the good of the world, or at least for the edit-of-the-book and choose-a-cover-template-in-canva good. I’m pretty sure publishing and good of the world are the same thing. Especially as I don’t publish in hard copy right now, so I can claim I am environmentally friendly, totally ignoring the cost of manufacturing the electronic devices we require for eBooks.

Anyway, this roundabout post written by a sleep-deprived me (thanks broken floody washing machine, sore back, and late night storm) is a way to tell you that I published a new book! If you like my random posts, this is one big lot of randoms.

What I Did On My Summer Poorcaytion explores the inane thoughts of a person who has actual time off for the first time in a very long time. Too much time to overthink, and too little money to be some fancy holiday person.

Some choice quotes from What I Did On My Summer Poorcaytion:

“Like, at least I can mildly respect Ikea’s fucking hellhole of a maze being designed to trap you to buy things – I like my evil obvious and on the surface.”

“I was carrying the book and a water bottle so I opted to carry the banana bread in my mouth. I mean, it’s just efficient that way. It’s where it will end up so it’s kind of like soothing the banana bread as it heads for inevitable death.”

You can buy the book from your preferred online store here (note, it’s still in approval stage for some of them, so if it’s not in yours, check back in a few days).

Or you can buy the book direct here (downloadable in PDF, ePub or Mobi formats).

I have no graphic design skills so canva saves my butt!

Maybe too many spades for my time!

  4. So I bought your book and have read the first couple of pages (“What” and “Why”) and I totally agree. If us travel bloggers can write about doing something, then you should have no problems writing about doing nothing.
I’m looking forward to polishing off this read!

  8. Good on you for sharing again here. Looks like you made a sale or 2…despite being unwell for some time. Hope things are on the up and up soon.

Thank you for linking up for Life This Week. Next week’s optional prompt is Taking Stock. Using words of your own or ones from other bloggers as prompts is cool. Hope to see you there: 2 March 2020. Denyse.

At some point I just had to get something out – I had pushed back so many planned dates and it was irritating me. And patience is not something I have a lot of 😉
