Book Review: Get Your Sh*t Together by Sarah Knight

get your sh t together

This book was my first foray in to shit/fuck books as a reader. Given that I published Fuck Should in 2019, I had been deliberately avoiding reading “similar” books so that I kept my “vision” and didn’t get distracted. Get Your Sh*t Together was another impulse grab from the library shelf, a tactic that seemed to work very well for me these past holidays.

As someone is is perfect in every single way, and always has her shit together, this book was of no help me.

Kidding.

I didn’t find that I needed to action a lot of stuff in this book, because it’s a lot of stuff I’ve been working on in the past few years.

I got my finances organised. I have a faux uniform for work (elastic waist printed pants and plain top). I pre-make food for lunch so I can grab and go in the morning. These seemingly insignificant things smooth out my day and make me have the appearance of having my shit together.

The book doesn’t specify that you have to the exact things I did. I view it more as a gentle and sarcastic kick up the ass to maybe kind sorta think about fixing the shit that bugs you.

It’s like I said in my finances post, it’s almost like knowing where all your super accounts are is a helpful part of knowing what to do with them. Like basic logical sensible rational advice is… good?

If you have your shit together, you don’t need this book. Though if you couldn’t work that out for yourself then maybe you just think you have your shit together and you really do need this book. If you don’t have your shit together, and have tried smart advice, read this book and see if snarkier advice is what kicks you into gear.
