It Has All Been Done

It Has All Been Done

Nothing is original any more. It has all been done before. I’ve seen that idea somewhere else. Who DOESN’T know this?

It Has All Been Done

It Has All Been Done

Yep, it probably has all been done before.

So What?

Not everyone has heard what you heard in formative years. Sometimes it didn’t stick because it came from a person they didn’t like. Repeating things in your own way can mean that it finally “clicks” for someone who really needed to hear it.

I hadn’t heard a particular phrase used in a positive way before. “Stay in your lane” was always a “HEY! YOU! Who do you think you are to do that” type of phrase in my head. And then I read this blog post on a friend’s business blog. Totally re-framed it as a positive and helpful tool. It’s quite similar to how some people choose a word (or three) for their year – they can look at the words and it helps them to focus on direction and intentions.

It might very well have been second nature for the author to write using that phrase. But it was new to me. What would have happened if they had thought “well everyone knows this, so I won’t publish it”? It wouldn’t have re-framed the phrase in my mind.

Maybe it has all been done. But that doesn’t mean that everyone has absorbed it, appreciated it, or heard it in the way that clicks with them. Never hold back sharing – you only need to help one person to make it worthwhile.
