I wanted to share a brief story of how I am a (very) imperfect writer.
But also – perfection doesn’t exist. What I deem perfect isn’t what you might deem perfect.

Having said that, there are generally some accepted standards that we apply to tasks.

My proofreading style: happens after I’ve hit published.
Blog Shame
A few (too many) years ago at a ProBlogger conference, we were mucking around with a chalkboard and writing our blog shame confessions on it. Mine:
It reads:
I still don’t proof read 🙁 #BlogShame
You don’t have to be perfect to write. Or do whatever is that you like. Partly because there’s no such thing as perfection, partly because how will you learn if you don’t do, and partly because imperfection (to whatever standard you think exists) is a terrible excuse for a barrier.
That’s the best thing about blogging I reckon. I write straight into the post, attach the pics and press publish or schedule…and then re-read it when it publishes. I like the immediacy of it.
It’s nice to have something faster than a book, for sure.
Yes!!! I too proofread after I publish. Many moons ago, I would edit my posts and re-publish when I discovered errors.

Haha I don’t think I’ve ever proof read my posts. Sometimes I’ll fix things if I’m in an old post but that’s just luck to catch any errors.

I always meant to post more creative stuff on my blog but kind of just…never did it!
I always find things after I’ve hit publish and have to go back and fix it up! I totally agree with you, we don’t need to be perfect writers or anything else as you say. Thanks for the honesty. #lifethisweek
I’m far too far from perfect 🙂 But I think perfection does stop some people and I wish it didn’t.
I too find most of my errors (and there are always errors) after I hit publish too! And if I don’t find them, my mum does and tells me about them 🙂

I kind of proof read but often find errors (typos, incorrect tense, whatever) in the post once it’s gone live. I do edit it. I know it’s me. I just do it that way. It’s probably the hardest thing to do, proof-reading our own words!
