Take Care of Yourself

Take Care of Yourself

The last three weeks have been exhausting. Mostly due to stress. I did briefly utilise EAP chat to talk about the stress of discrimination in job hunting but it basically came down to “I’m sorry that’s happening to you. It is wrong. Can you do craft?”

I was hoping to do some hobby stuff and stuff for Normal Systems this week but I’ve been completely unable to. I have no physical energy or mental space.

People always say things like:

  • Take care of yourself!
  • Relax!
  • Do craft about it!
  • Eat well
  • Sleep well

Ok…but I need energy to eat well. Stress is interrupting my sleep. I’m too tired to hold my body up at the craft table.

And…the key takeaway?

Even when I can claw a few minutes of ability to do some reading or crafting or whatever-ing… the effects don’t last any longer than the duration of the activity itself.

You can’t craft your way out of systemic discrimination.

It hurts. It drains.
