A while ago I responded to this Substack post. Particularly, this part:
“It means learning to use supports (whether that’s a mobility aid, a meal delivery service, or a friend helping you with errands) before you absolutely need them.”
My repsonse:
I fully agree with this.
The challenge is when you need these supports to come from a disability system, which won’t let you use them until you’ve “tried” (which they make up based on their whims and misunderstandings).
Disability systems are very discriminatory towards energy limiting conditions.
It leads to a conundrum – you need to be rich to manage your health properly due to these discriminatory systems, but you can’t work enough to be rich.
(I didn’t even go into the bullshit that is capacity building, which is an inappropriate “support” for energy limiting conditions!)
