Remember how I said I was going to have to look for work? Well it’s going slowly. There’s not much of quality out there to apply for, and what I have seen is mostly “needed now” but only for a few months. Not quitting a job for a short term job, because that’s ridiculous.
Anyway, here’s where people will get angry.
I’m hoping there are slightly more fuel issues in the coming months. I’m hoping it means the non disabled renormalise working from home, because that’s exactly when I’ll be unemployed and needing to apply for jobs.
I need this to happen as it’s only when the non disabled need an accomodation that the disabled are seen as “reasonable” for needing it.
So yes, structural, society-wide ableism means I need things to go wrong in order to get a job and maybe not end up homeless.
Shitty fucking land we live in, hey? I don’t want to have this wish, but it’s the most reliable way for me to be accommodated. It’s a wish forced upon me.
Don’t want people to have to think like this? Ask your employer what they are doing to be genuinely inclusive.
