What I Loved: The Heatwave Edition

Brisbane has been sweltering through a heatwave this week. I have no idea what the definition of a heatwave is, but when your husband comes to bed at midnight and tells you that it’s 30 degrees and 80% humidity, I feel safe in calling it a heatwave. What I loved this week is primarily air conditioning. In my office (though not when I’m the first person at work and it has been off all night), in my car and oh-so-thankfully, at home. I don’t even care any more what my electricity bill will come out at.

See how sucky this week has been?

green tea
For some – possibly stupid -reason I started to drink green tea again this week. In the heat. Why?

Cat
I saw this possibly-lost cat on my lunchbreak. I didn’t really know what to do about it. My experience with cats is that they scratch. What are you supposed to do in that situation? How do you know if a cat is lost or just out for a walk?

Quiet by Susan Cain
I ordered this last year and it didn’t show up. I left it a while, figuring, Christmas & all that. Nope. So they re sent it to me. And IT ARRIVED!

QLD tourism
New bucket list location. How awesome does that look?

peckish rice crackers
I totally didn’t eat an entire packet of rice crackers at my desk this week.

bacon mush
Breakfast at the beach in the heat…bad idea. Delicious, bad idea.

What did you love this week?

  1. Its 9.30pm and I still have the air con on. Blrgh.
I want to read that book!
Eli Creek looks so awesome. I think I’ve been there when very young but would love to go back!

I think my air con has been on 12 hours a day recently. The book is really good – I borrowed it from the library and read it slowly and loved it (even the parts I disagree with) so I knew I had to buy it.

I’m not a huge ice cream eater – I bought some in early December and I’m still barely halfway through the small tub!

  2. Totally a heatwave. Saturday night was the worst. We had the air con in the main lounge all arvo which sent the heat to our bedroom and a sweltering impossible night sleep. But yes, air con is otherwise on my list of things I loved last week. And summer fruit. Grapes, nectarines, so good!

    1. Summer fruit is the best! We only have one room with air con (the lounge) so when it’s really hot, we just drag the mattress in there to sleep.

  3. Thankfully it’s cooled down here over the last couple of days. Although it would be nice if there was less of the torrential rain! I love the peckish thins too and definitely not judging on the eating a whole packet. They are seriously moreish!
