Now this is why I think about learning to paddle board.
On Sunday evening I was sitting on a small boat ramp (canoe ramp?? It’s too small for boats) and timelapsing the sunset. Some kaykers had just come in and were putting their kayaks away, so I was standing off to the side of the ramp. While I was standing, a woman walks past me, says hi, and jumps on her SUP to go sit in the middle of the ocean and watch the sunset. Obviously the sunset looked damn good from where I was too, but it just looked so peaceful to see her glide off and watch it alone in the middle of the ocean.
And it’s flat calm ocean here (occasional cyclone after effects notwithstanding in summer) so it’s pretty much the perfect place to SUP any time. Maybe when I’m further along with my physical rehabilitation (am only allowed to walk right now), this will be something I do…
I want to learn to SUP too! I hope we both write posts about our experiences soon.
Mine might be a little way away but one day!
I look at the SUP’ers (is that what we call them?) and wish my core muscles & my balance would be good enough to try but sadly I know neither is.
Someone said similar to me haha. I have no idea if I will be able to but I’m willing to rent one and try.
I just love the name ‘sup’ too. I see a few women I know having a good. I do not think I could do it but I love that you have a goal and could see yourself doing this. Onya I say!
Denyse.
I don’t know if I’ll be any good at it but I’m willing to rent one and give it a try – at the appropriate time! Probably not soon.
