People are very all or nothing about work and I am just… not that way inclined.
Colleagues have to be friends! Nope. Colleagues are colleagues. There’s nothing wrong with being a colleague. I have a great deal of respect for many people I’ve worked with and for some, I’d drop everything (disability permitting) to work with them again. And yet, they are not my friends.
Your job as your identity. You know, this one is hard for me, but I am not my job. I do my jobs and I do my jobs well. My jobs are absolutely not the sum of who I am. I have a lot more interests and goals and priorities than my job.
Why are we so obsessed with being so deeply tied in our jobs?
