Adult Sippy Cups

After accidentally trashing my laptop last week, I’ve been thinking about the merits of spill proof cups. I know that kids have sippy cups, but not having kids, I don’t really know anything more about them than that.

But, it got me thinking about what sippy cups for adults are. And how we should use them, because anyone can tip half a litre of water onto a laptop that they can’t afford to replace…

When I think of Adult Sippy Cups, this is what first comes to mind:

Or there’s my favourite travel mug (from Typo, cos they’re my budget and have sales racks):

And then I just snapped…

Or there’s my waterbottle, which I’m a bit too lazy to get up and take a new photo of right now. It’s a purple Rubbermaid one that I bought for $5 in Bunnings. Here’s a photo I took last year after I “customised” it when I was inspired by Pinterest:

Either way, I think adults need more sippy cups. After all, while we are (theoretically) more responsible and calm than children, we also own more expensive stuff (well, I don’t remember having expensive stuff as a kid, I guess with iPads these days it could be different?) so therefore we actually need the sippy cups more to protect our crap possessions.

Or, maybe you’re not like me. Maybe you’re responsible and don’t pour 500ml of water over your expensive laptop that you can’t afford to replace.

What do you think? Do adults need sippy cups? Or just me?

  1. We definitely need sippy cups! I always fear I will spill my drink over my laptop or phone. Sometimes we learn when it’s too late!

Very bummed that I learned too late!!

  2. Yes! I need a sippy cup, several times I’ve spilt coffee or water over the laptop keyboard…miraculously it’s still working!? Though I have had to remove the space bar key & a few others to remove the stickiness that was affecting the buttons productivity LOL.
On a side note that is somewhat relevant, when my husband & I were first dating it became a clumsy habit & a running joke between us that I would always spill my drinks on the passenger floor of his car. Even now, he’s cautious when I’m the one holding any drinks – capped or not, in the car. I don’t know how I manage it, but more often than not I do!
Apparently the gloria jeans travel mugs are pretty good – I’ll let you know once I get my hands on one 😉

Sounds like a good laptop if it survives water!!

Maybe we need a blogger friendly adult sippy cup that works for wine, coffee, tea and everything else!
