Saturday Giggle Fest

I was lazily flicking through blog posts this morning before crawling out of bed when I came across this post by one of my favourite bloggers, Jenny Lawson aka The Bloggess. A lot of people were discussing how it helps to have a go-to page to help them through depression, to see if they can trigger a smile, to distract themselves for just one minute of the day.

And so I thought, well, I can put together a list of sites and posts I like. Maybe it’ll be helpful for someone.ย And because, some days you just want to laugh at things.

As mentioned above, The Bloggess by Jenny Lawson. Some of my favourite posts are: And That’s Why You Should Learn To Pick Your Battles, Who Are You?, I BLAME THE BLOGGESS, and I screamed “ME TOO” at more than half of these.

Then there’s Hyperbole and a Half by Allie Brosh. (Totally weird side note, but when I go to this site, it changes it to .com.au for me. Creepy, Google, creepy.) This entire site makes me laugh until it hurts. My husband can tell when I’m reading it because apparently I have a different laugh. (Now who’s creepy, Google!?) But, for your clicking convenience, here are some choice picks to start with: Boyfriend Doesn’t Have Ebola. Probably., Dogs Don’t Understand Basic Concepts Like Moving, The Party, and Texas.

I’ve only just been introduced to Smile You Bastard. Some good ones are: Mud Dog Down, Happy Animals, Never Fall Asleep First At A Party, Skywriting, and Cat Owner.

Then there’s good old Buzzfeed. It can be hit & miss, and not everything in a list post is funny, but it’s usually a decent place to go for some laughs. They even have a post directly on this topic: 23 Easy Ways To Instantly Make Your Day Better. They even have ones for the grammar obsessed: 22 Reasons Why Commas Are The Most Important Things In The World.

My cheer-up place is the subreddit “funny”. Always good for animals being cute.

    1. I bought myself Allie’s book for Christmas and was going to read it last week when I was off work – then I realised laughing a lot is probably not the best thing to do with tonsillitis…

  3. I’m going to have a squiz at all these later tonight after I get my work done!! x
