Post originally published on Bloggers and Bacon in… um, about 2015?
Last week I chose not to blog here & shared it on social media. I was tired, basically.
Anything I would have written or edited would have been of low value. I was behind in my blog writing due to launching Contentum Creatio as well.
Usually I like to be a few weeks ahead in my posting schedule. But it’s ok to take a break if you need it. Nothing bad happens. And you’ll probably get more respect from your audience for putting nothing out than for putting crap out.
Key tips for taking a break from your blog
Give Yourself Permission To Take A Break
This is the first and most important step! Deal with any feelings of guilt. Accept that you are taking a break for a week (or two, or whatever you need).
Announce It
That way your audience isn’t expecting posts. We live in a connected world – being informed is a crucial part of that.
Share Old Posts
Take some time that week to schedule old posts across your social media platforms. That way, your readers might find a hidden gem of a post that they want to read and share.
Have you ever taken a break from your blog? How did you handle it?
