Welcome back to the 12 Days of Blogging Christmas. You can catch up here:
Day 1 – Photo Posts
Day 2 – Break Editorial Schedule
Day 3 – Guest Post
I’m not a huge fan of list posts because I prefer longer-form writing, but they do suit some formats and topics. I also tend to associate them with topics that are too sensationalist and lacking research. So, personally I try to use them sparingly.
Having said that, here are 10 reasons you could use lists:
- They’re short
- You can summarise ideas
- You can use them to brainstorm
- They’re quick & easy posts to consume
- You can easily gauge community reaction to an idea
- You can use them in the future to expand into blog posts of their own for each point
- There is no set list length
- You may be helping someone learn to count
- Not all list items need to be fantastic ideas on their own (see 8, above)
- You can ask a question
Do you use list posts? What do you think the biggest advantage & disadvantage is to a list post?
