Let Your Art Suck

Let Your Art Suck

Let Your Art Suck

The first time I tried to draw in my art journal, it looked awful. Actually… it always looks awful. Because I suck at the drawing types of art. See:

Let Your Art Suck

For me, an art journal is less about what I create and more about keeping my fingers busy with something that ins’t an iPhone. Which is good, seeing as what I create is not the best; even my stick figures look weird.

If you like something, you don’t have to be good at it. If it helps you, you don’t have to be good at it.

  1. True that. Let it suck. I can’t draw to save my life but it will never stop me doodling. I can’t sing either…and that’s an entirely different story.

Also can’t sing. Doesn’t stop me. Occasionally use it in public to keep people away from me 😉

  2. That last line is great advice for life. Do what makes you happy even if you suck at it!

      Thanks 🙂

  3. I am so bad at drawing so I stick to flowers and hearts and squiggly things. Actually I think your sailing boat looks pretty good. Happy journaling!

  4. Great advice! I like your reasoning to keep your hands busy and not with a phone 🙂

Well I try … I have times when it’s more successful than others! This year…not as successful so far.

  5. My art journals are exactly that! Something to do with my hands others than scrolling.

    Great post.

Thank you for linking up for #lifethisweek #199. Next week, the optional prompt is Food. Hope to see you there. Denyse.

I do need to put down the phone more this year though.
